Our previous post- #7 Whakamahere proved to be a popular download and so we decided to provide more 'Unpack a book-lesson plan' resources at different Ngā Kete Kōrero levels.

The process remains the same:

Unpack!

1. Me Kanohi Hōmiromiro

• Analyse the reo/kai-what unique features are there?

3. Kūmamatanga

• How can I draw in/entice/connect tamariki to/with the text?
• What prior knowledge do tamariki have?

3. Hai wero

• What questions can I pose to challenge/check comprehension/highlight language features?

4. Ngohe Whakaū

• What activities can I utilise to consolidate/practice/strengthen/develop understanding?
